Latest news on Diagnostic and Therapeutic Care Paths (PDTA) in Italy
Being effective tools for the appropriateness of diagnosis and cure in cronicities, the Diagnostic and Therapeutic Care Paths (PDTA) can help the Italian National Healthcare Service to save up to 8 billion euros of unappropriate prescriptions, the Ministry of Health says. This would also allow taylor made therapies.
In this regard, a recent research focused on the support of ICT to the PDTA and conducted jointly by FIASO and the Politecnico di Milano, has set itself the objective to provide a framework on the role of information technology for the development, utilization and monitoring of PDTA currently present at the Healthcare and Hospital Structures of 14 different Italian Regions.
